Airbus Industries

Airbus Industries is composed of four partners, each of which were once independent aerospace companies. In 1970 Aerospatiale, of France, and Deutsche Airbus, of Germany joined forces to become Airbus Industries. By 1974, CASA of Spain had joined the company, followed by British Aerospace in 1979. Over the years, Airbus has become the Boeing Companys primary opponent in the struggle for dominance of the world passenger jet market.

Entering service in 1974, the A300 was the worlds first twin-engine, widebody passenger jet.

The A380, with the ability to carry well over 500 passengers, is currently the worlds largest airliner. The A380 was first flown in 2005, and entered commercial service in 2007.
